Jesus is Greater Than: A Reflection on Faith, Perseverance, and Divine Supremacy

Image
In a world filled with competing ideologies, philosophies, and belief systems, it's easy to lose sight of what truly matters. As Christians, we're often challenged by the allure of other spiritual practices or the temptation to fall back into old, comfortable ways. But there's a profound truth that we must hold onto: Jesus is greater than. This simple yet powerful statement forms the cornerstone of our faith. It's not just a catchy phrase, but a deep, theological truth that has the power to transform our lives and our relationship with God. The book of Hebrews, a mysterious yet crucial part of the New Testament, drives this point home with remarkable clarity. Though its author remains unknown, its message resonates through the ages: Christ is superior to all that came before Him and all that will come after. Hebrews was likely written to Jewish converts to Christianity who were at risk of sliding back into their old religious practices. It's a reminder that while th...

Finding Intimacy with God: A Journey of Love and Vulnerability

Image
In our fast-paced world, it's easy to lose sight of what truly matters in our spiritual lives. We often find ourselves caught up in religious routines, following rules, and striving to meet expectations. But what if there's something deeper, more profound, waiting for us in our relationship with God? The heart of true spirituality isn't about perfection or performance. It's about intimacy – a deep, loving connection with our Heavenly Father. This journey of intimacy begins with understanding who God really is and how He sees us. Many of us have grown up with distorted images of God. Perhaps we see Him as a distant, angry figure, always ready to punish us when we step out of line. Maybe our earthly fathers were absent, strict, or emotionally unavailable, and we've projected those experiences onto our concept of God. But the Bible paints a very different picture. Psalm 145:8-9 tells us, "The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The ...

Greek words for Worship

In our fast-paced world, it's easy to lose sight of what truly matters. We often find ourselves caught up in the whirlwind of daily life, forgetting to pause and connect with the divine. But what if we could rediscover the profound beauty and transformative power of worship? What if we could embark on a journey that leads us to the very heart of God? The concept of worship is far more intricate and meaningful than many of us realize. In English, we have one word for worship, but in the original biblical languages, particularly Greek, there are several words that capture different facets of this spiritual practice. Each of these words offers us a unique perspective on what it means to truly honor and connect with the Divine. Let's start with "sebomai," a word that emphasizes reverence, awe, and devotion. This form of worship reminds us of the vast difference between us and our Creator. It's about recognizing God's majesty and responding with humble adoration. I...

The Power of Prayer: Tuning Our Hearts to God's Frequency

Image
The Power of Prayer: Tuning Our Hearts to God's Frequency In our fast-paced world, it's easy to overlook one of the most powerful tools we have as believers: prayer. Yet, prayer is not just a religious duty; it's a vital connection to the heart of God. It's through prayer that we align ourselves with His will, experience His presence, and witness His power in our lives. Imagine prayer as tuning a radio. God is always broadcasting, but are we on the right frequency? Just as we carefully tune an analog radio to hear our favorite songs clearly, we need to tune our hearts to God's wavelength. When we do, something beautiful happens – our hearts begin to resonate with God's heart in a sympathetic vibration. Like a newborn placed on their mother's chest, hearing her heartbeat and synchronizing with it, we too can synchronize our spiritual heartbeat with our Heavenly Father's. But how do we achieve this deep connection? Here are some practical steps to enrich o...

My Views on Current Hot Topics

Image
Since I have been preaching through the Gospel of Matthew in my series The Gospel of the Kingdom, there are some topics I have touched on and others that I have not because they didn’t fit into the flow of the book. However, I want to make my position clear on some topics. These are my beliefs based on my interpretation of the Scriptures. I first want to start with the topic of abortion. While pro-abortion forces love to point out examples that are in the extreme and represent less than 1% of all abortions performed, I think that anyone with common sense will acknowledge that abortion has become yet another form of contraception for those who fail to use proper contraception methods to prevent pregnancies. While I certainly feel empathy with those who are raped or others who experience certain extreme circumstances that result in pregnancies, I am not here to debate what should or should not happen in those circumstances. I have to go by what the Bible says, and I am convinced th...
